Burford is a small village west of Brantford where lots are bigger, streets are quieter and the countryside starts at the end of the road. Homes come up less often than in the city, so it helps to know what to look for when one does.

Listings here include the village and the surrounding Burford countryside, so you will see rural properties as well as village homes.

In the village, expect a mix: older homes along the main street, many dating from around the turn of the last century, post-war bungalows on side streets, and a handful of newer builds. Lots are often wide and deep, which appeals to buyers who want a garden, a garage workshop or room for kids to run.
Outside the village, listings shift to country homes on an acre or more, hobby farms and working farms. These can be some of the most interesting properties in the county, but they come with more to check. Our Burford community page covers what village life is like.
Do not assume servicing from the address. Ask whether the home is on municipal water, a well, or a mix, and how wastewater is handled. If there is a septic system, get its age, permit and pumping history, and plan an inspection. On older village lots, a survey is worth having, because fences, sheds and driveways do not always sit where the boundaries are.
For country properties, also check zoning before you plan a new shop or barn, and remember that a working farm next door may mean early tractors, spreading and seasonal smells. Ontario law protects normal farm practices, so those are part of country living rather than something a neighbour can stop. Our rural property guide has the full checklist.
